You want buyers? Go for them

Many people ask me, “Where can I get people that will buy all my broilers at once?” At first, it sounds like a basic question, but when you hear how many farmers are stuck with mature birds and no buyers, you’ll understand why this topic is important. If you are new to poultry farming, you may think that once your birds are mature, buyers will just show up. It doesn’t work like that. You have to go out and look for them. 1. Visit your local market. No shame in it. This is where the poultry hustle starts. Most markets have a section where people buy and sell live chickens. Go there. Talk to the sellers. Some of them buy 10 to 50 birds every week. Build friendship, give them good offers, and let them test your birds. If your birds are healthy and clean, they will call you back. 2. Try hotels, but expect some rejections. Hotels can be tough. Many already have their regular suppliers and may not want to try someone new. But still introduce yourself. Be polite. Drop your number. There are days their suppliers won’t deliver or they have more guests than usual. That’s when your phone will ring. 3. Eateries can surprise you. Like hotels, they already have suppliers. But when they get a big contract to serve food at events, they look for extra hands. If you introduced yourself earlier, they will remember you and call. 4. Use Google. It works. Don’t wait until your birds are big and eating up your profit. Pick up your phone and search for “cold rooms near me.” Cold rooms buy in large quantities. They process and sell frozen chicken. Call them. Visit. Send a message. Some may not respond immediately, but if you are consistent and reliable, you’ll get noticed. And once they trust you, they’ll be the ones asking if your birds are ready. Now here’s the real reason many farmers struggle to sell; they are not proactive. You want to sell at 6 weeks, but you wait till week 6 before you start looking for buyers. That’s a big mistake. Start from week 4. Begin to tell people that your birds will be ready in 2 weeks. Remind them the next week. Tell more people than you actually need. Let it be that you are the one disappointing some of them because your birds sold out quickly, not them disappointing you because they have other options. That’s how to raise your value. Poultry farming is not just about raising birds. It’s about planning ahead, selling smart, and staying visible. Follow me for more poultry tips that will help you grow faster and sell smarter.
